Can security in the country be improved?

October 27, 2008

As elections 2008 approach with just about some 40 days to go, security seems to be taken for granted and this is a very important issue. With the recent clashes between some party supporters of the NPP and the NDC, wouldn’t you want to know exactly what nation’s security apparatus is doing in preparation for december 7 or what messages are sent out by politicians?

Can anybody understand why party supporters engage in such violent acts asaprants are campaigning peacefully?

Obviously party supporters are not imbibing the values of their candidates. Are politicians not doing well to ensure this or is the security apparatus failing?

Politicians in their campaigns around the country are preaching peace ,but is this peace message been well understood by party members before sent out to ghanaians? If for some party supporters and members elections is a do or die affair then allow me to ask, who will do and who will die?

On the other hand, did security authorities go back on their word when they assured ghanaians safe elections? Looking at the repitition of violent clashes between political party supporters and cases of robberies, murders, rape and so on, is the security apparatus failing to do its job? Can we rely on them? Will it get better?

Let me know what you think.

Can security in the country be improved?
