Does political defection pay?

November 18, 2008

Some have said that just as Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president left the UGCC to form his own, the CPP then it is okay for party affiliates to defect to other parties. But did he defect to another party or he formed his own.

POLITICAL DEFECTION. Why does this happen in the first place? Why do some party affiliates walk out? Any ideas?

Let me share some thoughts and opinions with you . You walk out or defect when individual objectives differ or there are some discrepancies in internal politics. (mind you, differences are ubiquitous and inevitable.) Some say they are looking at certain issues, others stand by their ideological principles no matter what - even when it’s in contrast with that of the mainstream.

Defectors say, “at the end of the day it is our right”. Indeed it is.

Do party party defectors have any credibility to pull floating voters? Do they have any at all?

Is this their way of addressing personal issues? Is it pay back for a broken heart (by previous party) instead of doing something for the particular party they have just joined?

Let me know, what do you think?
