Is the run-off compromising government’s power?
December 18, 2008
Indeed we took a drive around town and hawkers are back on the roads, cars are crossing the red light, policemen look on indifferently while people struggle in traffick . With just about 10 days to the second round indiscipline seems to be back and nothing is being done about it.
What’s more salary arrears have been paid in full, drivers have been released, fuel prices have gone down, politicians are granting interviews to the media.
What are the implications of these actions by the government? Are these attempts by the government to influence electorates in their decision come december 28? Now on the other hand what are the consequences of these events?
It does seem that power is in the hands of people and not government. But how does this portray the government… a governmnet willing to do anything to retain power?
So what do you think?
Is the run-off compromising government’s power?
Tell me what you think.

Got something to say?

For me i think its not surprising. Its the Ghanaian politician at his best. The government of the day is allowing any and everything to retain its hold on power and i hope that the citizens can read between the lines.
I have no problem with payment of salary arrears and reduction of petrol (that we deserve it as ghanaians), but to release drivers jailed by court and now we have policemen who cannot take action against offending drivers is to say the least but a boost of the moral to disrespect the policeman who this government has tried all this years to make them respected.
One might ask what is the use of making the policeman very proud to carry out his duties with chest out for 7 years only to make him a public ridicule in 3 weeks.
Like Ato kwamina said this morning, maybe Armed robbers should also be licensed for the 2 weeks left. And i will add that if anybody has anything to do that is above the law, THIS IS THE TIME. do it now and go scot free because the government doesnt have the urge to punish you or u have to wait for another 4 or 8 years.
its inetresting! i dont think it the run- off which is compromising government’s power and neither is the government trying to influence the electorate. THE GAME IS POLITICS. Politics is a game where power is in the hands of the people that is if it is democratic but the rules are made by the governement, government which constitute’s people who are also part of the people with the power. Now politicians only give what the peole demand because they are there to serve the people… to act in a way that the people will have better life. Having said that, theres is also a limit, there r factors which governs the system to function at a particular time or not. this what creat misunderstanding from the people abt the gvt. People just have to understand the rules which governs this game, see the best part of it and just move with it.
So compromising isnt the fact, it is the principles, systems or rule that governs the game (politics). it has never changed all over the world and will never change—no politician can avoid it… lets look at the bright side of it n make use of it….
à bien tôt…
NPP shd know that however violent they see the NDC,it is the only party who has handed over a democratically elected gov. to the other peacefully and beautiful so shd learn from that and try to uphold that record of ghana.
if all those allegations and linking the party to violence will ever hav an impact that cld hv manifested in the first rounds of voting
ghanaians are wiser than politicians tot we were
did u even hear that fisherman say to ghanaians that now we are getting sense small small,YES WE INDEED ARE
yes we can,change we need
Amen!

FOR ME,I THINK THE ROUND OFF HAS REALLY AFFECTED THE INCUMBENT GOVERNMENT B’COS THERE IS NO LAW AND ORDER,CONGESTION AT IT’S BEST AND THERE ARE NO POLICE PERSONNELS ON OUR BUSY ROADS ALL IN THE NAME OF POLITICS.”ARREST OR SACK ME,I VOTE AGAINST YOU” IS THE WATCH WORD.
I am not surprise that the NPP is now playing the dirty game in politics, thier so called Hit List will eventually hurt them than any other person. If you can go to the extent of using people’s life for Politics then you can also kill.
My prayer is that the police should not compromise their profession and neutrality with impunity and live up to expectation.
I am surpriced that our only mouth piece the Print Media have been affected with Monecracy by publishing such a shameful Mail called the HIT List
The NPP after failing to win with ONE Touch is now wallowing with ZAIN, “What a wonderful World.. “God be with the good old Professor and God be with Ghana.
kojo goodmorning, ifthe NPP people claim they have done well 4 de people of Ghana in their 8yr adm’tion, then they shd stop this dirty politics and allow the electorate to decide 4 themselves come 28.
I am not surprise NPP is loosing slowly because of the negative propaganda. Every body is now getting to know them of their lies and façade. Kojo, tell them to go back and make their home work well and come the next 8 years.
