What happened to the campaign based on issues?

December 22, 2008

The campaign based on issues earlier has taken a shift to a campaign of allegations. The campaign towards december 7 focused on issues like better healthcare, better education, improving the economy.

The NDC and NPP have been making some allegations against eachother over the weekend. Among the many allegations, Nana Akuffo Addo has been accused of meeting with EC officials to plan rigging in the second round, the NPP has been accused of planningĀ  to put the former president under house arrest.

Kwabena Agyepong of the NPP dissociates his party from making any allegations against the NDC and also denies the allegations the NDC has made against the NPP, calling them psycho-mechanisms to cause panic in the run-off.

Have these accusations got substance or are they panic mechanisms? Should we or should we not take them seriously?

So, what happened to the campaign based on issues?

i am amazed at all that is going on. first of all i think too much attention is given to rawlings, is it really ata mills that is going for the presidency or is it rawlings??? i never see ata mills anywhere or hear him saying anything to his supporters who are doing their own thing ,what they know best to do. INTIMIDATION and THREATS… is this what Ghanaians really want??? back to anarchy and fear??? under a rawlings ruled puppet??? i was very happy with the way the 7th dec elections went b’cos it showed Ghanaians had moved on. but i think for real maturity we need a peaceful country. with what has transpired in the past few weeks, i find it very disturbing if the ndc were to win b’cos i strongly believe ata mills,if he is a peaceful person has obviously no say in his own party. it just goes to show the ndc has never really changed.the leopard CAN’T change it’s spots. beware Ghanaians, you are not putting ata mills in charge you are voting for rawlings!!! the thought of that is really disturbing….GOD BLESS GHANA!!!!

what exactly are the manifestos of the ndc? apart from correcting the mistakes of npp… i don’t think the npp need the ndc to do that. the 7th dec. elections would have woken every politician up to take notice of what the people are really looking for. as long as i can remember they has not been a govt. in the history of Ghana that has implemented so much. of course there has been mistakes, by God what govt. in this world is perfect.. but lets really look at what npp has achieved and what ndc did with that same time frame… al i can remember with ndc was fear and intimidation all the time, there was no freedom of speech, no accountability. if we have matured then lets allow npp to continue with what they have started ndc have spent so much money on this election they are just looking to get back to the coffers so they pay their debt. and in the process do what they always do, bring fear into the country. is this really what Ghanaians want!!!

Its all because some (the number needed to make the president) Ghanaians never understood the issues (which were shattered by the opposition’s lies). Any way the allegations and soever wouldn’t help. Fellow Ghanaians let follow issues and vote for the NPP for they can move Ghana forward.
