Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia: Should he have resigned? Was it fair for the Mills govt to push him out?

January 19, 2009

Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia has resigned from the central bank following pressure from the Mills administration on him to quit post. The deputy BOG governor failed in his bid to become vice President on the NPP ticket and returned to post at the bank. He had taken a leave of absence during the campaign.

With over a year more on his contract still outstanding, and criticism of his continued stay as well as pressures from the new administration some have also criticised the Mills government for failing to live by its promise of an all inclusive government. Analysts however say if he had quit too early, he may not have received all his benefits. Now he takes his leave for all the 9yrs of service prior to the expiration of his contract.

Was it fair for the Mills administration to push him out or should he have resigned earlier?

for me with all the lies Bawumiah told Ghanaians about the state of the economy during the IEA debate and on the campaingn trail shows he is a dishonest man and asuch should not be allowed to hold on to his job.

What was Dr Bawumia thinking? He must learn to weigh his options every time he is about to make a decision next time around.

We must all learn to begin with the end in mind in all our deliberations.

The seeds we sow today grow into the fruits of tomorrow and the seeds for the next planting season.

what is happening to Dr. Bawumia is to teach us that we can not look into a bottle with both eyes. we therefore have to choose between partisan politics and our professional career.it serves him right, politicians are just in to use and dump after achieving their aimand he could not recognize it. we, including u in JOY FM shuold therefore be weary of them.

I THINK PRESIDENT MILLS SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIS TIME. I REMEMBER HE SAID HE IS ALL INCLUSIVE GOVERNMENT. MOREOVER IF DR MAHAMADU BAWUMIA DID NOT GO FOR POLITICS, I THINK PRESIDENT MILLS WOULD NOT HAVE SACKED HIM. WE SHOULD LEARN TO LOVE AND RESPECT.

i dont see why people should complain. Would he have remained in that position if NPP had won the elections? Does he work alone or they work as a team?
Please give us a break cos i know he is not super human

i don’t know, whether we are seeking to improve the economy or seeking revenge. but what i do know is that we are in a world where efficiency isn’t the key to nation building. no wonder its called a-f-r-i-c-a. Afraid For Reconciliation In Countries of Aboundance.

his statement about the state of the economy at the IEA forum was injurious to the truth.i just felt sorry for him considering his youthful age.The “Professional Politicians”will always lead such good people astray.he should have done the honourable thing by resigning.

i think Bawumia really don’t have anything to complain of since there’s a saying that goeslike; “master go, master come”. I actually don’t see the reason why Ghanaians should talk plenty like that because had it been the NPP that won this election, it would have been the same format. To me when politicians preach this common sermon about an all-inclusive government, i always laugh over it because i know thay just say it for saying sake. They are all pretenders. We wait to see!!! Thanks for allowing me speak my mind.

the man is simply disapointing. he never added anything to the npp campaign. i feel despite all the noise about his prowess, he is a big failure. good riddance to bad rubbish, i say.

I THINK HE DESERVED WHAT HAPPEN TO HIM. AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE MILLS DECISION.

Got something to say?
