What are your views about the whole vetting process?
February 12, 2009
There have been some interesting events during the vetting process. Some nominees cracking jokes to lighten things up a bit, the committee chairman’s alleged arbitrary rule over proceedings, minority boycotting some nominees vetting and so on.
Tell me what you think. What are your views about the whole vetting process?

Got something to say?

Generally, the process, i believe, has gone on well. The posture of some questioners and the calibre of questions asked gives cause for some concern. HOWEVER, i would want to ask a question- Is the excuse that a certain comment was made “in the heat of the political campainging” tenable? Can our politicians continue to make dangerous comments on a political stage with the excuse that this was done during campaign season? What if these comments incite chaos that degenerates into wide scale confusion? The effects could be extremely damaging and irreparable.
I want to take this oppoprtunity to let all ghanainas - politicians and non politicians alike, both current and future- that there is only ONE GHANA. Let us guard the peace and stability we currently enjoy with our very lives. WE MUST GUARD OUR TOUNGUES for in it lies the power of life and DEATH!
Regards.
l would like to know if the AIDS Commission is still working because l do not see their work any more and also l would be happy if you can find out if the lands at Atomic have been giving back to Ga stool owners.
Strictly speaking, I think the process needs to be reviewed. There should be a time frame for asking questions, because it does not make sense subjecting a minister designate to four hours of questions. Was he on trial? The minority accused the said minister of telling lies about certain individuals, but who has not told a lie before, and why did they not allow the people concerned to respond? The minority had a diabolical agenda to frustrate the minister and to delay the process, but they failed, because he dribbled all of them. I congratulate him. In future we should base our questions on knowledge, competence, experience and the ability to perform. It is only then that we can make Ghana a better place for us all.
I see the vetting process as just like the usual conversation, why?who has been disqualified as a result of poor performance, does it mean they all qualified? then lets dissolve the committee and lets parliament confirm all of them.
i think the vetting com. has been ineffective in their vetting. most of the dep. ministers espercially the dep. minister for women and children’s affairs is highly unprofessional and ineffective. nana all the way. We will be back not with an elephant but a cobra because the elephant came and was dancing on T.V.
thank you.
Really, some of the candidates do not fit for the position. Kojo, can you imagine asking a candidate a simple question which demands a yes or no answer and the candidate will be narrating a story.
