Got something to say?

To attract outsiders, we should first check our sanitation situation, and secondly we the Ghanaians should also participate and know the site we have at home.
How many of our top men know much about tourist sites. Hmmm…
Yes,but it should start from within before we sell it to the foreigners. Internal tourism can generate revenues that will outstrip that of the foreigners. Take a look at KAKUM,ABURI GARDENS,WLI,MOLE etc These are great tourist destinations Ghanaians should be encouraged to visit. Minister let it start from you and your colleagues.
we can make tourism attractive if the government develops a better aproach of publicizing the industry. I know there are more fine places as tour spots in the country.
Try visiting the (original) center of the country (somewhere around Kintampo).
Kojo, it’s a whole lot to consider.
How’s the tourism Ministry marketing the country to the outside world because we in the country don’t even hear or see what is being done? How much proceeds do we actually get on yearly basis from tourism?
yu r jus too boring nd do the one way thing…..i honestly HATE that ato guy nd don’t see why yu do the news paper review wit him….he’s an A**. i knw yu won’t read dis.
even Kenya nd other African countries hve adverts on cnn, we can do better than if yu hve any ideas yurself yu can talk to pple in charge nd pple who hve new ideas nd more plans pple who want the betterment of ghana not those selffish pple.
I don’t think we have done enough to attract tourists in the country. As it stands now, I can say tourism is only centred in the southern part of the country. What about the north?I believe if we are to develop our rail network even from the middle belt of the country to the north people would be attracted to the north to patronize the tourism there. This would not only attract tourists, but businesses and enhance trade with our landlocked neighbours as well.In fact i cant see how someone would like to sit in a bus from Accra to Tamale for say twelve hours only to see the crocodies up north.
morning, till we promote local tourism we should forget it. i went to Japan sometime back, and i was amazed as to how every family i visited kept asking me where i have visited so far. Some actually sponsored by trips to some of the key tourist places afterwards. And Kojo when you go to these places you see more Japanese than other nationals. That is what i am talking about local tourism.
On the issue of financing tourism marketing my proposal is for government to introduce and extra 5% levy on hotel accommodation. This will generate more than US$ 5 million p/a to promote tourism outside Ghana.
The Ministry of Tourism must identify a group of airlines and tie in periodic tourism promotions for Ghana. Let us check out the Kenya and South African Airways examples. Let us get smarter and avoid the status quo.

Kojo I want to know what exactly (pragmatic steps and policies) Mr. Kobby Acheampong and his ministry are doing to help the dying ministry not the talk talk thing they always do on air.
What is the Ministry of Tourism doing to make our tourism better and enjoyable.
Kojo, I am writing from East Africa. Ghana still has a long way to go in terms of promoting tourism. The tourism packages have not been developed, so there is right not, nothing to market. Sitting in the offices of travel agents in Toronto (Canada), New York, Copenhagen, Manchester, Durban, Entebbe, etc. I found brochures marketing packages for visits to Kenya. Nothing on Ghana.
We have a lot of interesting talkatives in our Country with little or no action. Its sad that the Dep. Min is only playing with words. He even didnt know he didnt have the data for 2008. It appears they are spending too much time to play politics. Ghana has a long way to go with short-sighted and politically motivated leadership we have.
Even the roads leading to the tourism site is very bad. Accra can be a very attractive tourism site, but look at the filth and congestion around us. pls mr. minister put action to words. And oh what happened to the law that says all long vehilces carring containers to use the motorway instead of the tema beach road. and also they not driving after six pm this law has been put in the bing and covered. Oh Ghana, when shall these things be…………!!!
Ghana’s diplomats sit in their comfortable offices in Washington, Paris, London etc. Cant they attend tourism fairs on Ghana’s behalf? Ghana’s mission are all over the world and if we are serious about tousims then we must consider seriously using our missions for trade and tourism instead just passport renewal offices
Kojo, can you ask the minister what the government is doing to improve the toursims sector in central region(cape coast) since that region have so many toursims sites.
Kojo, a careful view of the MOT website will tell you most of the info is outdated. Kindly ask the Dep. Minister why the Paragliding was cancelled??? Tourism involves heavy investment in the industry to reap indirect taxes etc. like what we got from paragliding. On the other hand, a CEO of Ghana Tourist Board who has worked hard to get all the info the Minister is spitting out now, but was fired with no explanation. Some of us young public servants are thinking twice about working hard to serve our nation for some politician to just act without following proceedure.
Dear Kojo,
Thank you for the good work and the challenge you have thrown to the other radio station in the as the way forward for the morning show and not news paper show.
I have being thinking and bruising about this great opportunity lost - a gold mine left to waste or undiscovered. I MEAN THE VISIT OF OBAMA TO GHANA.
What are we doing to take advantage of this important visit that cost Ghana huge sums of the tax payers money?
The first country Obama visited when he became a president was Canada and they now have the famous “Obama cookies” (Biscuit with covered with maple leaf icing)which is selling like hotcake.
How was it created? The visit was well planned from airport to Parliament house shielded by bullet proof glass and a visit to the presidential palace. Just before leaving the country Obama was shown on TV saying he cannot leave fine country without picking something for his children - the next short was the shop keeper handing over the biscuit to Obama and the following day scramble for the cookies started.
What is the lesson here for us? 1. His visit to the cape coast castle and the books he signed should be promoted like hot cake. More copies of that visitors book must be duplicated and branded, marketed to people who want to see Obama’ comment and also sign in the same book as the Obamas. This i believe will attract both the young and old to visit the Castle out of curiosity.
Aside this he made very important statement about the reasons for this private visit to cape coast - as a responsible husband and a father satisfying one of the most important wish of a wife and children. This should be the catchy phrase for the well to do Black American in the diaspora. We can go on and on but look at all this when sharping your dream of attracting more visitors to the country and don’t give for lack of data from the Ministry. Hope to hear from you.
Ben
THE ROAD ACCIDENTS ARE TOO MUCH ON OUR ROADS TO BOOST LOCAL TOURISM. PEOPLE FEAR TO TRAVEL ON OUR DANGEROUS ROADS TO TOURISM SITES. . REDUCED THE ACCIDENTS ON OUR ROADS OR PUT SERIOUS MEASURES LIKE SPEED CAMERAS ETC ETC IN PLACE TO CHECK ACCIDENTS ON OUR ROADS AND YOU WILLSEE ENOUGH GHANAIANS TRAVELLING TO ‘TOURIST DESTINATIONS IN OUR COINTRY’
KOJO, WHEN THE MINISTER CAME TO THE STUDIO, HE CLAIMED THERE WERE PROBLEMS BUT NOT ABLE TO ARTICULATE HIS SOLUTIONS BUT WHEN YOU ‘KOJO’ RAISED SOME SOLUTIONS THEN HE QUICKLY PICKS ON IT AS IF HE IS ON TOP OF THE SITUATION. WHEN YOU QUESTION HIM, HE RAISES ANOTHER QUESTION WITH HIS OWN SUITABLE ANSWERS. THE MINISTER WAS NOT ABLE TO PUT SOMETHING INTELLECTUAL ACROSS TO CHALLENGE GHANAIAN LISTENERS TO PATRONISE THE GHANAIAN TOURISM. EVEN COMMON STATISTICS WERE NOT IN PLACE BUT HE SPOKE LIKE ALL IS WELL AND DONE. HE CNTRADICTSED HIMSELF ALL AOUND. LISTEN TO THE PLAY BACK. LOOK AT HOW ARROGANTLY HE ANSWERED A CALLER ABOUT THEIR DEALINS WITH THE MINISTRY?
ghana should value time or we can,t make it.
Tourism us we all know, is one of the areas that brings a huge revenues to every country. But unfortunately, Ghana’s tourism depaetment is not being given all the necessary support that will enable it to function well. I therefore suggest to the minister of tourism take a second look at department.
yes we can. it depends on us the citizens.
Hi, I’m a student of T.I. AHMADIYYA S.H.S and we were to represent Ashanti Region
in the on going UNWTO celebration on the topic ” What do you Known about Tourism ” . But it seem as the organization is not encouraging and right now we don’t know the exact day we will Kumasi to Accra since the programme is tomorrow.
Please help.
School children should be given the opportuinity to visit tourist destionations as stated in their lessons at least ones or twice in a term to make them aware about tourist destinations in the country. For effective tourism awareness program, it must start from our schools.Where I attended my primary school, for the six years that i stayed in the school we only visited two tourist destinations.I strongly know that if we should start from our basic schools the awareness will sink very deep in the minds of ghanaians and they will grow with that kind of mind to boost our tourism industry.
