Come and see me, else you become vultures.
October 9, 2009
My work schedule requires me to be in the office by 5am each day. And usually it starts on a good note with pleasant jokes and messages with my work team.
On Thursday morning however, I was met on arrival at the JOYfm offices with some interesting news. That one of the Kumasi based pastor’s whose curse laced sermons had been replayed on my show, had called to leave a message for the morning show team.
He had spoken to one of our online editors Fiifi Koomson and had left with him a stern message to the effect that the team calls him before it’s too late, lest we become vultures.
The message left me with an instant sore throat and a dizzy feeling. Not one borne out of fulfillment of his curses but one borne out of utter surprise that a man who suggests that he is a called man of God, would adopt such tactics.
I had tried in all past discussions on the subject of religion, common sense and science, to avoid expressing my personal opinion on the works of these pastors, who were either evoking ghosts to avenge their deaths, heaping curses on followers or preaching unimaginable things to God’s flock. (and am still in my better judgment unwilling to do so.)
The team and myself joked around with the issue for a while and even toyed with the idea of what animals we would prefer to become….Israel Laryea – dove, Fred Avornyo – Crocodile, Seth Kwame Boateng and Ato Kwamena Dadzie– (still a vulture). For me, I opted to be a teddy bear……….fluffy and tender….(lol)
But in all seriousness many of our listeners were upset when we reported the developments on air. One listener sent me a bible quotation which I’d like to share with you.
- a curse undeserved shall not come” Proverbs 26 v 2 and also in Numbers 23 v 7 Balaam says “How shall I curse whom God have not cursed”
One of my producers Seth Kwame Boateng also received calls from many who assured us of their prayers and encouraged us to disregard the threats of the pastors.
I only say thanks to all who shared a word of kindness for the team.

Got something to say?

Hi Kojo,
I am an ardent listener of your Super morning show. I read about the pastors message which he left for you people to call him . All I want to say is that, “by their fruits ye shall know them”‘ just be focused with your good work and keep on exposing them. we will also keep praying seriously for you till we see the God who answers by fire!.
I have some thing to talk about. Kindly find out from Central University College why they charge so much for hostel fees, and at the same time, collect extra money for maintenance. The school SRC is also located at the Mataheko Campus whilst those at Miotso (Prampram) students go through nasty treatment from Porters and One Adminstrative managress who talks harshly to parents just because she is in control.
I believe sanity should prevail and the way things are done in the school should be looked at. Though it is a private University, the Board of Governers should be more responsible than what they are doing, because they are just frustrating continuing students. Bye Baaba
Kwadwo, i must confess to you that, you are my role model in Radio presenting and i am lookinjg forward to the day that i will meet you one on one so that you teach me some stuff on how to host a programme on radio and be successful.
I was your junior at school and during that time, you gave me a very good advice which till this day, i would never forget. My name is Justice Beyevu Sharkles, if you will remember, there was another shackles from your batch, who was then a chaplain. I am not that shackles, but the short, stout boy who always worried you with names of defaulting students from the General Arts Two class in Pojoss. I completed in 2002. Please help me with your contact because i always would like to hear from you and seek more advice from you. Currently, i am in the news department of Rite90.1fm in Somanya, hoping to start a talk-show on Agricultural Technology and Machinery. I really would love it if i get your contact. This is my number,0208791721…Thank you.
Hi Kojo,
I was also supprised when I heard about the man’s threat/curse ( I cannot call him a pastor because he certainly does not deserve that title) permit me to say its hilarious. What has our world come to? keep the faith dear! God is on your side and Christ died so that every curse the ones that have been spoken and yet to be spoken will be broken. Any way let me ask why would you choose to become a teddy bear!! fluffy and tender!!………lol
