The Super Morning Show is the flagship program of JOY FM. The four hour Radio magazine Show, provides its global audience with daily insights into local and international current affairs, business, social and development discussions as well as a heavy dose of socio-political discussions, interviews, expert analysis entertainment, music, sports, and the most exciting radio promotions in Ghana. It airs from 6:00am to 10:00am on weekdays.
The Super Morning Show is anchored by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, a quick thinking, articulate host, who with a Bachelor’s degree and a background of practice in Accounting leads the daily analysis of issues. With the compliments of his Producers Kofi Ansah who himself holds a degree in Political Science and Sedem Ofori who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts, the Super Morning Show boasts of the most incisive questioning and the deepest analysis from its expert guests.
The typical Super Morning Show listener is aged between 25 and 55 years and has a keen interest in development and socio-political issues.
SMS is differentiated in its deep interrogation and background investigation into all current affairs and Political issues that make news headlines. Unlike the predictable polarised panel debates and commentary by social commentators and editors, the SMS focuses a lot more on expert opinion and education with the objective of fairly educating the public and exploring alternatives to resolving or improving the status quo.
The show highlights often ignored but critical national issues and in 2008 focussed drew the nation’s attention to the falling quality of education, the effects of pair-trawling on the high seas and the role of chieftaincy in modern Politics among other subjects.
The show also boasts of a high level of interaction with its listeners through new media platforms such as short message service (SMS), e-mail, blogging and social networking sites.
The show starts with a strong and passionate motivational call to listeners at the start of the day. The message of motivation has become the delight of many who are looking for a charge with which to start the day. It is followed with bits that highlight the days, newspaper headlines, sports headlines, local and international news.
At 7:10am we provide nutrition tips on the Nestle nutrition line.
At 7:15am the First Word offers the first platform on radio in Ghana for follow up interviews and analysis of the day’s leading stories.
At 7:45 Food for thought (Mondays / Thursdays) offers listeners a reminder of some daily lifestyle lessons. Renowned play-write and motivator James Ebow Whyte presents the food for thought segment. It often challenges perceptions and calls our listeners to rethink attitudes.
At 8:00am The Business report provides the day’s leading business stories and analysis.
At 8:15am The Show Anchor subjects a number of issues – Political / social / developmental etc to analysis and ciritique with the assistance of newsmakers and experts on concerned fields.
At 9:00am The listeners have an opportunity to express their opinions on all subjects being discussed. This listener feedback session is most critical since it ensures audience interaction and critique to compliment and challenge other opinions.
